A late one today but I have decided to take the weekend off.

Coming off the back of the Movie Premiere and the UN stuff gets you heady and ambitious to the extent you have to pull back on the reigns and take stock. The kind of pace we have been at since December is really extreme. This can’t just go on like this. There are actually things I could do to keep momentum going but it gets expensive and if rushed and not well thought out - failure is more of a possibility. So take a break and let things settle down.

So I am taking a break and puttering around the house while snow falls outside. I contacted all the usual people in the organization and all is back to normal. We just carry on – post experiment – and see where this takes us. You just keep going places and doing things. No retirement for me yet! But you do them intelligently and not rushed. I am not some youtuber that has to push some content out regularly and quickly or lose subscribers. I can actually take a break and regroup. We had a really intense three months and I can take some time to do other things. That won’t last long but I will force another vacations of sorts before we get back on the FOF horse again.

But I just know that won’t last too long. Or not long enough…..

Work on an old 5 Qubit quantum computer!

As for artificial intelligence (AI) which is probably the next bit of advocacy: I have to be a part of the development to earn any sort of voice or credibility to nudge direction or development in this area. Being outside of it only relegates me to possible international policy on the matter at the UN and only as a journalist org. So this is what seems my only course. Like the IBM partnership programs, you just have to be in the community to inject ideas and such – to have a voice – as it were. Then you can stay on top of what is really going on “cutting edgewise” and add to the fabric of development and possibly have some measure of control, especially in the areas I am interested in and the ones that will butt against the interests of AI and the interests of humanity. And that is all I will say at this moment…... I own this through those sins of my father but I am living up to the responsibilities and not just turning my head away and pretending nothing bad exists!

Snapshot from my phone back on 2017 when I was messing around with one of their 5 Qubit computers. Things have progressed!

Later…..

A nothing day.....

I did do something that bugged me since getting back but it was just a household thing and nothing to talk about here. About the only thing notable was that I watched that movie Kingsmen. Always about saving the world literally and sticking your cock in some princess’s bum as the reward at the end (yes that literally happens in the movie complete with showing her bum and ass crack.....). The idea of the villain was to save the world from global warming by culling the population which apparently was fodder for the elites back in the day. He fails as buddy saves the world but does not save the inevitability of global warming – but in the meantime gets some royal ass! Well that’s what I got out of it – a good time waster anyway.

Miss Atomic Bomb!

But you can save the world through ideas rather than killing all sorts of people one way or another. It is far easier to do this than you think. All you have to do is have the ideas and the place where you can disseminate them to most effect. My humble little attempt was at places like the UN and through TV, radio, books and newspapers, and now the movie theaters – some were more successful than others. But the system works as it did last week or so. I defy anyone to show me - given my circumstances – how you could have done it better. But the bigger question is about the ideas themselves. There are all sorts of great ideas out there but do we just put them all out there? I say no. Is it in the best interests of the world to offer up a new an efficient form of child labor? So you only disseminate the ideas that you want disseminated. This is why I am not crazy about scientists alone working on AI and stuff like that. They have failed in the past for all the usual reasons and will do so in the future. What is the end purpose of all that money going into AI? Where does that money come from and what is the end purpose or return on investment for that cash anyway? I would guess it is not philanthropic. And there are the scientists working diligently on all the minutia, not seeing the bigger picture like how it happened with nuclear bombs. And Oppenheimer rethinking his involvement in the bomb (too late) and being labeled “that cry-baby scientist” by Truman. And what did Oppenheimer and his creative minions get for the “Bomb” anyway? Did they get a fancier car with more chrome. A larger house or the latest TV set? What was the price for unleashing the nuclear threat on humanity?

We have the Atomic Bomb! Let's Party!

We are probably too far along to turn the AI business back but we can influence things along the way – that is the best alternative so far. All IBM and its players have from me so far is a rather questionable program to see if the most elementary forms of AI exist in the simple quantum computers. That is all they stole from me – and they can have it. But be careful what you let out. I would rather eat a turkey sandwich in a dingy canteen and then freeze my ass off waiting for a bus and trudge through the snow to my miserable hovel and jerk off to cheap internet porn (as opposed to plowing a princess) in the morning. I would rather live the more unknown and austere life and keep my morals than the cheap and tawdry existence of a creative person who prostituted themselves to the lowest common denominator.

There is always choice…..

Goodnight…..

General housekeeping with the orgs.....

I spent Sunday mostly transferring huge Movie files to hard drives and that got done. But the DNxHD files of the one hour shows still need to be copied to this 4gig hard drive and that should happen Monday. That takes care of the source files for the movie and we only have to nail down the DVD and we are good to go there. I am also catching up on emails, some of which just make my eyes roll into my head but I digress. I’m taking care of all that now. Some SOCAN stuff has to be updated and all that (yes, even I got paid by SOCAN for Don Brasseur’s theme music in his show) – even in the music side of things.

Yes SOCAN Pays - For TV stuff anyway!

Yes SOCAN Pays - For TV stuff anyway!

As for the UN stuff I have updated the second landing page of IAIJ and should sticky the news posts of the speech and side event for easy of location. I now have final numbers of the total coast of that visit and it is as I suspected. That along with the movie premiere is a lot for a few months but we will get back to normal and just keep going. As usual I ask was it worth it and of course it was. The formal presentation of The Fortress Experiment at the UN along with the Positive Major Mandate for Humanity at the United Nations was in the end a good and positive play for all that hard work over the past 16 years. I hope it has some legacy to it but no regrets now. It went all the way it had to go and that is all I can do! So congrats to everyone involved as we finished what we set out to do and we actually did it!

The whole thing is just sinking in now. It took awhile but it is now sorting itself out in my mind. But you still have to take care of things apart form all this. A bit much but I am getting on top of it all.....

Goodnight.....

Late one today cause I was in Ajax at Morana Racing Engines checking out their kit for a GT500 supercharger on a 3.7 V6 Mustang motor.

Morana Racing!

My plan was to swap out the V6 which puts out 314 horsepower on 93 octane stock and 340 with a tune I have. Or swap out the entire powertrain and put in Ford’s new 7.3 litre V8 which bolts right in but Ford probably won’t make it a special Mustang model.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.....

Later (hope I don’t scare anyone but I’m a Prairie boy - Hell Yeh Brother!

Still running around doing things…..

Base plate for the Mustang Supercharger!

I actually spent time at Morana Racing Engines shooting a quick video on my iPhone and posting it on youtube. Normally I don’t youtube but I liked this guy and he is not all that internet savvy so I went the extra mile for the dude. The rest of the time was taking care of family business. I don’t talk about that stuff here unless it affects stuff at the orgs. And that is how it goes.

2nd plate for the Mustang Supercharger!

Sometime I want to talk about dissemination f ideas as opposed to advocacy and which is better – maybe later tonight. But sometimes you have to take time off and touch base with your hobbies like being a bit of a gear head and there is always your family…..

I’ve been kind of phoning it home the past couple of days so I’ll update things in the morning…..

First of all is the movie. The actual DVD version has an audio synch problem that I will now have to address before we have any aspirations on releasing this to the general public. Yup, the first complaint when I got back feedback a few days ago. Even so, and even with the slight audio synch problem, they seem to like and watch the movie. I am always flabbergasted when I hear this and pester them to be truthful and not play to my ego, but it seems you can actually watch the movie and not need psychological counseling if you watch the whole thing - always amazed by that. So back the drawing board. Now the people at the UN didn’t get that DVD, as they got the HD QuickTime version where audio and video is locked as one and of course in higher resolution. That version could also be copied and played on many devices – so no problems with those copies of the movie. But work continues…..

I think I finally got all the bills paid at the United Nations. This is a big deal as the first time in 2017; it was a big pain to do this with wire transfers. This time I paid with cash but you have to show them the paper receipt when you get the invoice notice in the email account. But that is done. Man, it seems like a gazillion years ago when I did the speech and the side event – though in reality it is just two weeks, or just 14 days ago. But it seems like a lifetime ago!

The purpose at the United Nations was to disseminate ideas to problems we have at the places that matter and we did this with the Positive Major Mandate for Humanity. We got their attention and we got the material to the Commission for Social Development. Then we did the side event that fleshed out ideas for about an hour. What more could you do and we did it within the UN System. The voting app, the mandate and even the idea of the citizen journalist org back in 2003 was mine personally. Yes, back all the way in 2003 which is before Facebook, Youtube, and the rest. We were one of the first and one of the first when it came to adapt international policy for the times. I did as much as I could and as the association could. We grow and continue to go further than dissemination but don’t judge our results in going past dissemination as we are really into an area where we have little structured ability to effect anything with the advocacy. But so far, so good!

The United Nations on February 10, 2019!

I missed going to the Canadian International Auto Show when I got back but that is life. I posted another video to YouTube for a stroker engine that the guy at Morana Racing was showing me the other day. That is interesting but with winter in full swing even in March; you still have to rally yourself to get in the mood. Just washing the car last night had sheets of ice on the car because it froze to the vehicle instead of running off!

Then there is the usual life problems you have to take care of that we all are stuck with. You do wish you had a perfect life but that is not to be. You just make the most with the hand you were given. I do have to say that personally I seem fit and well preserved. I haven’t fallen apart at the conclusion of the experiment or the advocacy at the UN. It still very much seems like things are not over by any stretch of the imagination. You just have to wait and see – only 2 weeks since the last bit of advocacy – but it seem literally like a lifetime ago!

Goodnight…..

I’m stuck installing Windows 10 on my daddy’s machine so I may as well punch out another update......

As some of you may know - I was a bit of a gear head back in the day. I’d be driving down the road past some dealership and spot a new Porsche on the display ramp, and 2 minutes later, there I’ll be underneath the car checking the engine and suspension out! Then back in the car and on my way after brushing the gravel and dirt off my shirt and pants and sometimes hair.

My trusty Mustang!

I was introduced to drag racing and performance cars as a kid back when we rented a house by the University of Alberta. One day someone parked a top fuel dragster in front of the house. Staying over for the race. I looked inside the cockpit with that butterfly wheel and I was hooked. I went to the drag strip and later shook all the white exhaust flakes out of my hair - true love!

Top Fuel dragster cockpit!

That urge comes and goes but usually the urge appears around spring. So while I take a truly earned breather from the companies and advocacy - I am looking at cars and engines again. I won’t go on and on about this so probably just today and then give some of you a break. But for those that know cars I have two options. I have these options because I bought the cheapest Mustang I could get. If I bought a V8 upgrading would make no sense, but the V6 opens many doors.

Ford 7.3 Truck Engine!

I could just swap the V6 for the new Ford pushrod 7.3 truck motor with traditional iron block and even spark plug wires! I always wanted that back in the day and is probably the way I’ll go. This sets things up for a bit of drag racing also! It’s so cool that Ford came up with this motor! So we shall see how the first engine swaps go and make a decision.

The other one is to soup-up the V6. Probably the same money so I’m tending to the V8. You only live once! So that’s where we’re at in my head now. Do things while you are still young and spry enough to still do it.

I’ll be back tonight talking about why I operate under a moral imperative - probably because in the absence of that you operate on your base animal instincts, and that’s not good for all of humanity. I think it goes something like that.....

Well, it’s just before bed-time so I may as well do the update…..

Why do an update if the experiment is over? Well - is it over? That is the million dollar question: Is it over? The truth is I honestly don’t know…..

If feelings count then it sure does not feel over. I figured that when my job was done I would instantly age and fall apart and die. But right now I feel great and full of energy, the exact opposite if the experiment was over. Things may still be in play – so the updates continue even if the action winds down for a bit. It had to as the movie stuff and then the positive mandate just kept going. Nobody lives their lives like this. How does your life compare? See what I mean? You can get used to doing one thing after another and then it becomes normal when it really isn’t. So I keep posting. Sooner or later this blog on this message board will break, and probably because the server it is on will be upgraded to a version of PHP that the old script is incompatible with. Then I’ll just pick up with the new board and keep going. I figure I would put all these posts in book form and pdf it on-line but the forum layout still works best.

So even though this adventure may or may not be over I still have a regular life that need stuff doing. Like buying vacuum bags so I can vacuum and stuff like that. The UN trip and movie stuff was expensive and I am keen to pay off the bills before I get into another project so there is always that. None of this takes very long, but I do need a break, so it all gets done now. Even taxes and stuff like that – may as well be now.

But through all this is doing it your way. And my way of doing it is by a moral imperative. Taking a mental stance and operating from that mind’s eye as opposed to operating from your base instincts as that is not where the best of humanity lies. The positive mandate does not come from base human instinct. It comes from an intellectual perspective but mindful of our visceral selves and that you need not know the goal but the mindset and “cultural atmosphere” that brings the best of what you have and let that forward your ultimate expression and future goals. The base mentality only seems to lead to destruction as shown by our past so these new approaches are needed. Man is his own worst enemy if left to his/her base urges. This other way is best – no question in my mind. A culture of self-destruction cannot be the Holy Grail for species survival – buy my way may…..

Goodnight…..

I almost forget about today’s update.

Well, on Saturday I finally bought the vacuum bags and on the way back I noticed a turnoff that caught my attention (Langstaff north of Steeles Avenue on Yonge Street in Toronto) and decided to turn onto it for no other reason but a feeling. I quickly knew why as this was the street I took the bus to go to my first real job as a bookkeeper for this trailer company. It was actually on this street called Ruggles and when I got on there I saw that building I worked in. Like entering a time machine, there it was but older and some of the windows boarded up prior to demolition.

My first office building!

The office was down stairs and I believe to the right!

But that is the building as the rest of the street stopped at this cemetery so that was it. I took some pictures and video and two of them are here. Memories, time passages….. There was a dark haired girl upstairs that had an interest in me but I never went anywhere with that – pity! But that was the first job. I guess I am lucky to still be able to visit it before it was gone. But there was another spot, the diner I would have lunch at. A toasted bread bacon and tomato sandwich everyday! Down Langstaff I went and this is where I believe it was. Like the other building this one is on its way out! The sign all but gone but the remnants are sort of there…..

The diner on the first floor of the two story part of that building!

And back home from there where I watched “Crash” and although alright I have no idea how it got all those awards. I also finished updating my dad’s computer and he is on his own now. I did knuckle under and start trying to make a proper DVD – and I may have a proper one in synch tonight. So much for doing nothing on Saturday.

But the old buildings from my past. They are sort of like me and my present generation. They are still standing but falling apart and soon to be demolished for something new. That is what happens to your memories and the realities behind them. One minute they are new with you as a teenager and the boss in his 40’s and this other businesswomen who shared the office in her 30’s. This woman was attractive and would wear the most revealing tops around the office where you would virtually see her boobs in the flesh and she didn’t care. But that was then and she probably does not advertise them anymore just as that reality of yesterday updated things and now everything is older and dilapidated. Marilyn Monroe and James Dean are icons because they died young. We didn’t see them age and go sour on us. Memories are like that. Does finally seeing a starlet in her 80s for the first time ruin the ionic image you always had in your mind? Sure it does. That’s why some go into seclusion as they get older. I now get it!

The DVD was a synched success!

The Fortress Experiment DVD disc face!

So I finally have my audio synched DVD! For the DVD I don’t need 24 frames so I kept the TV 30 frames per second and worked off that and it worked. For the movie I had to adjust the synch by over 400 milliseconds to synch it up because of the conversion to 24 frames per second. The only thing is that the old presets for the chapters is now way off but I can fix that and have another go. I also have to buy more DVD-R discs. I am using the tail end of my 8.5 dual layer DVDs and everything is beautiful and synched. The big deal is if I can burn a copy onto the 4.7 typical consumer discs. If not I may just use the 8.5 gig discs as that s what they all use anyway. So real progress there and I will hand out the new ones to those who mentioned the synch problem and have then use the same equipment and see If that fix is the fix. I also want to make an audio commentary with all the participants that are available. I always love those audio commentaries and it’s a plus for the physical media discs. And I want to get the DVDs out and on Amazon for anyone to enjoy just like the way I enjoy watching movies and dissecting them at home. That is just another life nugget or check box I want to check…..

I still have plenty of stuff to do on the home front. I also have to preen myself up a bit and all of that usual stuff. I like the down-time where you can go and check something out if you want instead of the single mindedness and squeezing it into a given time that I was in the past couple of months. Strange to not have that pressures all of a sudden. Anyway that is your update!

Well I’ve been dealing with a bunch of personal issues lately and right now it’s my dad’s garage door that tried to fall on his car yesterday. It’s out now but the springs have to be replaced and the door popped out on the tracks also. So that’s happening as I punch this out.

Playing catch up on personal stuff.

The switch to dailight savings time didn’t help any either. Like everyone get a stupid pull suppository because the have one less hour of sleep. But more importantly because it throws your biological clock off. I constantly operate
With less sleep now and then but because everything else is the same it is only the lack of sleep. Now you have lack of sleep and everything is changed. When you eat, go to work, when the sun goes up and down. Even your TV shows are all changed. You can rationalize it in you mind but your body can’t. It needs up to 6 days to adjust and you may be abscent minded or even have health problems. So there is a push to get rid of it. It can’t come soon enough as far as I’m concerned.....

Well it's three weeks past the UN trip but It seems way longer.

I eat good over in New York and come back with a full belly. Now things have definitely trimmed down and a little more and I'll call that quits. I’m now paying off the trip and making headway. Blood pressure is good. Feel good – so for me things are stable. But like everyone else you have a private life so I’ve been catching up on that. The only things really going on is membership stuff, another annual return, and the DVD. That DVD is basically finished and I altered the chapters Wednesday night and that is done I could rock with it as it but I want to try a different home screens for the DVD but keep the blue FOF logo screen for the chapters - maybe tonight. It’s warming up outside but as long as there is snow and ice on the road you can’t even begin to think about spring.

The squirrels have disappeared for the time being. But they will be back. I will get on the FOF saddle again and try to do more with the movie as I am catching up on things. It is not a perfect life by any stretch of the imagination – but who’s life is anyway?

Another late one....

I have a new landing page for the DVD:

The new DVD landing page!

Super busy but things are getting done. And that is how delicate things can be. If you don’t have time you can’t do what I do. And if I don’t have the time I can’t do what I do. That is how delicate this stuff can be. But I have all kinds of redundancies so no worries. But that is one reason this is so hard.

Updates to come tonight.....

For the weekend I will also be working on the audio commentary track of the DVD. This would probably be a dual layer DVD with also some photos and maybe I will make a trailer!

My new project!

But the other reason I have been reticent to post here was because I was checking things out in the car world with regard to my little Mustang. I’m getting some ideas but won’t bore you with the possibilities until I have really started to do something. Hey – I am what I am and I still like cars – so live with it as it competes for my attention when thing get slow. In any case it never lasts.

It’s spring after all!
