IAIJ-FOF Group Year End Review 2012!

2012 was a transitional year for the IAIJ-FOF Group. 2011 marked the end of the project called "The Fortress Experiment" and by design the companies used in the experiment (with the exception of the journalist organization) were to be moth balled. But the success we have had over the years with all these corporate and business entities, made us choose to keep it going and this was their first year on their own.

PRINT: 2012 had Fortress of Freedom Inc. publishing several books. The first two were from Anna Wendland with an academic book called "Immaterial Forms of Energy and their Interactions" and a book of fiction titled "The Road and Other Stories." Tabitha Blair had a novel published titled "A Family Half Done" about a bi-racial family living in Toronto. More Vision was the distributer and manufacturer of the books. All three books were on display at "The Word on the Street Literary Fair" which FOF had a booth.

MUSIC: 2012 was more laid back than 2011 which had FOFSTOCK. This year we released Yung Spot's first album with FOF RECORDS titled "Above Average":

FOF RECORDS was also proud to see our own Donald "Boots" Brasseur become a finalist on "Senior Star" and appear on the televised event presented on Vision TV:

We also completed the FOFSTOCK Documentary chronicling the trials and tribulations of putting on a music festival. The one hour documentary was later certified for broadcast by the CRTC as part of the TV series called "The Fortress Experiment."

TELEVISION: 2012 saw the completion of the television series called "The Fortress Experiment." The series follows a group of people as they attempt to enter the mass media to express themselves to the world and offer new ways in doing this. More Vision Inc. is the distributor of the series. The fifteen episode series is now ready to shop to broadcasters as a licence or outright sale.

THEATER: 2012 was the first year we attempt to produce a musical based on Tabitha Blair's book "A Family Half Done" and her upcoming CD of music. Estimated time for completion is 2015.

IAIJ: Perhaps the biggest advancement in 2012 was with IAIJ and in particular the journalist association. IAIJ became a member of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO in 2011 and 2012 was the first year of lobbying at their Annual General Meeting.

That meeting gave us a referral to UNESCO in Paris (France) where we started our "Citizen Journalist Initiative" and which resulted in our journalist report titled "Citizen Journalism Around the World: 2012." That report was reviewed by UNESCO and deemed suitable for presentation and discussion by IAIJ at the World Summit on the Information Society Review Meeting (WSIS+10) to be held by UNESCO in Paris, France in February 2013!

NEW FACES: 2012 saw the organization welcome two more individuals. The first was Robyn Szeto as copy editor at Fortress Of Freedom Inc. The second was Amanda Murphy as production assistant and model at FOF RECORDS Inc. and More Vision Inc.

CONCLUSION: From the strictly business end, 2012 saw all companies on their own and able to generate revenue enough to fund this years' activities. As such, the companies could go on in perpetuity giving creative people a chance to get their material out there into the mass media. As for myself personally 2012 was my official entry into lobbying and advocacy for journalist rights through IAIJ. In addition to the successes made by IAIJ, I also had my first speaking session at a university. This happened at York University in November to about 45 students.

2013 may be our biggest year yet with our planned participation at the WSIS+10 Review Meeting hosted by UNESO and the TV series sale/licencing for broadcast on television!
