Do you consider perverts to be persons just like you are? What about maniacs? What about homicidal hermaphrodites? Are they persons just like you are? And what about fetuses?
a.) Are they people?
b.) Are they just like perverted, maniacal, homicidal, hermaphroditic you?

Guest - don't be so contrary. I feel like I've entered into a - how many angels on the head of a pin - debate.

I can be as "Mary, Mary quite contrary, Michael Jackson is a fairy" as I like. I'm just speaking my mind; should I mind my speech? Razz

it's a feminist myth to consider men different persons from women

we are different as individuals and gender disparity is superficial but is what makes the male/female relationships interesting

this is what I find

Well, I'm not a feminist. My opinions on the differences are based on forty years of working and living with men. We don't think the same way as far as I can tell. I'm not knocking it and it's a generalization but I don't reach conclusions in the same manner as they do. I believe it's more about ancient things than modern day trappings.

interesting

but I was brought up lived and worked in very male environments too and I would judge we are of similar age and yes I agree there are gender differences but these are superficial - isn't that what keeps men and women interested in each ?

perhaps our differing views are more to do with are own different personalities as individuals than the great male /female divide

anyway I'm off to work now (this is the an experience that both both men and women have to face and I suspect with similar feelings )

have a good day

Could be Sue. I don't know. I'm 53 by the way. What had the most impact on me was my upbringing. Being the only girl after my sister drowned and being the youngest did have some perks for sure. My parents were free thinking socialists who took pains on promoting equality which altered radically when I reached my teens. It was too late for them to impose restrictions on me then.
When I lived in the wilderness, I had to learn skills which make urban living seem boring.
When I worked as a camp cook in a logging camp I learned more about improvising.
Later in life, I spent five years as a Union leader which opened the door to a tremendous barrage of sexism from management and the membership. None of them knew that I'd worked as the only woman at a sawmill where one of the male workers tried to kill me by violating safety practices. Anything they tossed at me paled in comparison.
I've spent most of my life taking care of not only my own affairs but family ones too. My choice but only because I wanted to be sure it got done.
Anyways, enough about that. I find that everyone has their weaknesses and strengths. Just different ways of putting their ideas forward and resolving problems. We all have to keep going down the road and only the lucky ones have it easy.

Pen

and men have been to blame for the misery that has been your life ???? - I'm making a big assumption here but the cv above doesn't sound like you have had a lot of laughs - at what point have you taken responsibility for your life ?

getting back to the male/female thing the place were it is most obvious that we are all individuals is on the internet a place were we can be anyone we like and if you are dealing with people with non-gender specific nicknames it's very difficult to tell the men from the women don't you find ?

You do make a lot of assumptions Sue. I think I'll just leave you to them.

This must be a recent rule, as in Japanese writing, there are no capitals AFAIK.
Probably made up especially for foreigners, writing in other languages.

I know this is bad, but I couldn't help myself

There once was a man from Uranus
Who got a lamp stuck up his anus
He tried and he tried
But it could not be plied
Still, the light of his smile
Made him famous
