By Tyrone Taiwo, IAIJ Inc.
The International Association of Independent Journalists Inc. (IAIJ) will be represented by its founder Maurice Ali at the High Level United Nations Review of the WSIS+10 on December 15-16 (2015) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. As President and CEO of this international journalist association, Mr. Ali will attend and meet other stakeholders at the event which brings to a close the WSIS+10 review process as enabled under UN General Assembly Resolution (60/252). IAIJ has been involved in the review process since the first WSIS+10 Review Meeting held in Paris, France at UNESCO Headquarters on February 25-27 (2013) until the Informal Interactive Stakeholder Consultation (July 2, 2015) at the United Nations where Maurice gave a speech about citizen journalism. Maurice says about the upcoming event:
“I am honored to have received and accepted the invitation to attend the WSIS+10 Review event at the United Nations on December 15-16 (2015) pursuant to UN General Assembly Resolution 68/302 of 31 August 2014. On behalf of myself as President and CEO as well as the Board of Directors and our membership which is worldwide, I am proud of our contribution to the WSIS+10 review process and thank all stakeholders for their input in the outcome statement which will be adopted by the United Nations and its member states at that event.”
This high level meeting will take place at the United Nations Hall and under United Nations protocol. There will be speakers from member nations as well as other stakeholders during the two day event. There will also be side events starting on the 14 – 16 of December at the United Nations and surrounding area.
From all of us at this organization; let us wish Maurice all the best with his trip to the United Nations at the High Level WSIS+10 Review Meeting in December!
