F.O.F. to Produce It's First Newspaper!
by Maurice Ali, Journalist
It is with great pride that I announce Fortress Of Freedom's next project: The issuance of our first newspaper! Since our web development has officially ended (despite the howls of disagreement from some.....); our member promotion is continually in progress and that also leaves us the time for the newspaper project. Development of the project will start with the release of this story.
Why try to produce a newspaper this early in the life of the organization? Firstly, we need to explore all the forms of media available for use and know how to utilize those forms. This is a technological and strategic imperative in our type of organization, and we must be ready to deploy such an option if needed on short notice. It could also be the precursor to a regular issue of the newspaper or possibly the forerunner of a quarterly, bi-annual; or annual magazine issued to our members.....just some thoughts. Finally.....it is fun!
Nothing has been discussed in detail and all interested parties will have a say in how we produce this newspaper. I believe we have enough material at this time to produce a newspaper and will start the process in our discussion and comments section in the accompanying thread. Thank you for your time. |

Any ideas:
Name of the rag?
Structure of the paper?
Sections?
Any other suggestion? |

I just had a talk with my lawyer and the newspaper project is....."full steam ahead". Fortress Of Freedom Inc. is the designated company to produce the publication due to liability issues. More later..... |

I thought the name Fortress would be good but then on second thoughts it
would sound like a right -wing newspaper or more probably like Supermans newspaper |

Ok.....my two votes go to :
1. Fortress Of Freedom.
2. The Fortress.
On major reflection, if thought that "The Fortress" was the best of the two. Remember, The Fortress was to have been the internet project (i.e. P2P) but Ian Clarke and his team seem to have that covered. Now that the "peer-to-peer" internet communication may quickly become illegal.....regular mass media may be our only avenue for free speech; therefore the "The Fortress" should become the newspaper..... |

I personally would leave this up to a discussion with the printer as to cost and viability as proposed with the amount of text and images and free advertising I have planned. The form is not a biased decision on my part. BTW.....why did you choose the tabloid? |

Ok, some ideas:
1. An introduction into what the newspaper is about and how it came to be.
2. Introduction into Fortress Of Freedom.
3. Introduction into IAIJ.
4. The state of freedom around the world.
5. Advertising (free).
6. Social events calender.
Anyone have any other ideas? |

I guess I am looking at two months to press time. That should give me enough time to present my "blueprint" for the two corporations and have a talk with all the stakeholders at the present time. We also need time for submissions and any possible additions to our journalistic staff. So two months should be it at the earliest. |

Not yet, and I will leave this discussion open for a few days for input; but we will not dilly dally about the paper. I am really motivated to get that first run on the streets.....really motivated. I always was interested in who ran these "underground newspapers" and here I am. We should circulate it at the local universities and such.....I would be interested in the response. |
